New Forest of Sofia: A Commitment to a Greener Future

That's why we are proud to volunteer for the New Forest of Sofia initiative, a project dedicated to creating a cleaner and more pleasant Sofia through reforestation efforts. This initiative embodies the spirit of environmental stewardship and communal action.

A Step Towards a Greener Sofia

The initiative's motto, “The trek appears with the first step, and the forest with the first planted tree,” resonates deeply with our company’s values. Alongside numerous volunteers, we took that crucial first step towards a greener Sofia. Our participation in the initiative is part of our broader commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.

The Beginnings of New Forest of Sofia

The New Forest of Sofia project began in 2017, spearheaded by the Sofia Municipality. The goal was to transform empty land into thriving forests, contributing to the city’s environmental health. By 2021, over 206.7 hectares of land in the Suhodol residential area had been planted with more than 103,000 acacia and oak saplings. This monumental effort laid the groundwork for Sofia’s new urban forests.

Expanding the Green Horizon: Negovan Forest

Building on the success of the Suhodol forest, the initiative expanded to a second site near the village of Negovan, where the reforestation project continued to flourish. In 2022 alone, two planting campaigns resulted in the growth of 30,500 oak saplings, covering over 48.8 hectares. An additional 32 hectares were planted with 20,000 oak saplings in spring 2023.

Our Contribution in 2024

This last weekend, our company joined forces with dozens of other businesses and hundreds of volunteers to plant additional saplings in Negovan as part of the 2024 spring campaign. Our team was enthusiastic about getting their hands dirty and contributing to this meaningful cause. It was not just about planting trees, it was about fostering a sense of community and investing in a sustainable future for Sofia.
